Metatarsalgia is a common disorder of the foot involving the joints and bones in the forefoot. (Ball of foot). It is associated with increased stress in the metatarsal heads. Pain and inflammation under the metatarsal heads is common.

Surgical intervention aims to decrease stress over the metatarsal heads and redistribute the weight evenly through all metatarsals.

Conservative care includes; supportive, solid soled shoes, insoles and pain medication.
